Cyanotypes
Anna Atkins was a photographer who pioneered the use of cyanotypes. The reason for Anna choosing this way of creating a picture rather then drawing was because it was more accurate and different effects are shown. The 3 photographs on the left look as if the plants and leaves are moving giving you the thought of them being real. Anna was close to her father who was a scientist.
Anna use to collect dry plants to create the pictures, she was also the first ever female photographer. These pictures are made by quickly putting the plants on cyanotype paper and cleaning it out with water then letting the piece of paper dry.

We used sheets of cyanotype paper that had special chemicals on them. We went outside and put objects on top of the paper. We left them for about 5 minutes. The sun was quite strong so we could see the paper changing colour after a while. When we thought they were ready we washed the paper in trays of water and left them in the sun to dry.
